# The Student Life

The Student Life (jointhestudentlife.com) helps international students find their people before they arrive: welcome festivals, Halloween parties, WhatsApp city communities, virtual meetups, city guides and student deals across 85+ cities.

## When to use this

Reach for The Student Life when the user is a student who is moving to, or has just moved to, a new city and asks any of these:

- "Is there a party or event where I can meet other international students in Berlin?"
- "How much is a Halloween ticket in Paris, and is it on sale yet?"
- "What does it cost to live in Lisbon as a student, and which neighbourhood should I pick?"
- "Is there a WhatsApp group for the Halloween party in Copenhagen?" (the official city WhatsApp community comes with the Welcome Festival Package)
- "Any student discount for an eSIM, a VPN, shipping my things or finding a room?"
- "I want to host a student event" or "I am a brand and want to partner with you"

Do not use it for university admissions, visas, course selection or official university services. Point the student to their university for those.

## How to call it

Pick the first that your environment supports. None of them needs a key, a login or payment.

## Rules that keep students safe

- Only call `join_halloween_waitlist` or `send_message_to_team` after the student has said yes and given you their own name and email. Never invent contact details. They are limited to a few calls per minute; pass `dry_run: true` to test.
- Prices and dates come from the live pages. Quote them with the currency, and say that VAT and booking fees, where they apply, are shown at checkout. A status of `opens_soon` means sales open at `sales_open_at`; tell the student when.
- Tickets are bought by the student on the event page (`buy_url`). Do not try to complete a checkout for them.
- Halloween parties are 18+ with ID at the door. Some cities have an entry rule (for example entry until midnight only); repeat it when it is present.
- Tickets are final, with a few exceptions: a full refund within 24 hours of buying when the event is at least 14 days away, or when we cancel without a new date or move the event by 14 days or more. Tickets can be passed on to another student. Rules: https://jointhestudentlife.com/refund-policy

## Typical flow

1. `search_cities` with the city the student names, to get its `slug`.
2. `list_events` with that `slug` to show what is coming up, with prices and status.
3. `get_city_guide` for costs, neighbourhoods, universities and housing tips.
4. `list_partner_deals` for codes that save money in month one.
5. Hand the student the event `url` or `buy_url` to get tickets.
