About Krakow

Krakow is Poland's top student city, home to the historic Jagiellonian University (UJ), the AGH University of Krakow and the Cracow University of Technology, with a famously cheap and lively student scene.

  • 🍺Unbeatable valueA pint of good beer is a few zloty, so a proper night out costs less here than a single round back home.
  • 🎓A real student townMore than 130,000 students across a compact city, so the bars, gyms and flatshares are all built around student life.
  • 🌃Kazimierz never sleepsThe old Jewish quarter is wall to wall bars and cafes, and the party runs on a Tuesday as easily as a Saturday.

Krakow is one of Poland's three most expensive student housing markets, but by European standards it is still a bargain. A room in a shared flat runs around 1,200 to 2,000 zl a month, with utilities adding 200 to 400 zl on top. Demand spikes hard in September, so start your search in July and never transfer money before you have seen the place or signed a contract. University halls (akademiki) are the cheapest option but limited, so most international students share a private flat in Kazimierz, Krowodrza or Ruczaj near the campuses.
