About London

London is one of the world's great student cities, home to UCL, Imperial, King's College London, LSE, Queen Mary and dozens more, with a buzzing, properly international student scene.

  • 💸Money is the real challengeRent and going out cost more here than almost anywhere, so budgeting and finding housing early genuinely matters.
  • 🚇The city runs on the TubeAlmost everyone gets around by Underground, bus and bike, so you rarely need a car and everywhere is connected.
  • 🎭Culture is mostly freeThe big museums and galleries cost nothing, which is a lifesaver when you want a great day out on a student budget.

London is the most expensive student city in the UK, and rooms go fast, so start your search early. Most students rent a room in a shared flat or a spot in a purpose-built student residence, with the average room around £950 a month and a lot more in central zones. Expect rent to eat most of your budget, look at Zones 2 and 3 for better value, and always view a place (or get someone to view it) before paying anything.
